The Dignity of the Human Person

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Friday, March 8th from 3:00pmto 4:30pm. In light of Pope Benedict’s resignation, we will be discussing Joseph Ratzinger’s “The Dignity of the Human Person” from Commentary on the Documents of Vatican II, Vol. V, trans. W. J. O’Hara (New York: Herder and Herder, 1969). This essay is referenced extensively by the articles we read for last month, which were Margaret H. McCarthy’s “Vatican II and the Church’s ‘Openness to the World'” and Larry Chapp’s “Gaudium et spes and the Intelligibility of Modern Science” from the Spring/Summer 2012 edition of Communio: “Keeping the World Awake to God”: The Challenge of Vatican II (Volume XXXIX, Numbers 1-2). At this meeting we will decided how we want to proceed with the discussion of these articles.
